I believe that as our technology-driven world is rapidly changing, so should education practices. As a lifelong learner and educator, I will adapt my teaching to best meet the needs of my students’ technological futures. Today’s students are extremely technology capable and their skills can be used to their advantage if educators adjust their lessons accordingly. When students are engaged in visual, technology-enhanced mathematics lessons their interest will be sparked and their minds open. This artifact shows my continual professional growth as an educator whom is aware of the importance of effectively implementing technology within mathematics lessons. In January of 2010, I voluntarily attended the iMathination Conference, a two day interactive professional development on innovative practices in math and science with technology. At this conference I learned how to develop and implement mathematics lessons in which students can apply their computer skills to discover mathematical relationships. The skills needed to perform mathematical activities on the TI-Nspire parallel technological problem-solving skills that students will undoubtedly require for success in their future workplaces. I understand that technology is rapidly and constantly changing; in order to successfully prepare my students for their technological futures in society I will regularly continue my own professional development in order to best meet the needs of my students.
